Guidelines for Hanging
-
CAS Venues are open to members of the Creative Arts Society.
-
All art must be delivered by the artist or authorized person to the venue site at the time stated in the call for art. We cannot accept shipped artworks.
-
All art must be collected by the artist or authorized person at the time of the strike/closing date.
-
All artwork not picked up on the strike date may be charged $10.00 per day storage fee. It is up to the venue coordinator and how badly they have been inconvenienced whether to charge this fee.
-
All artwork will hang for the entire show unless approved by the Venue Coordinator.
-
In the event of a sale:
The Venue Coordinator is to be notified and permission must be obtained from the Venue Coordinator before the art is removed. Art that is removed must be immediately replaced with another piece of art so as not to leave an empty gap on the wall. -
The artist must not remove art without the above permission as it is important to inform our venues in advance that art is to be removed and not let them think that it is okay for someone off the street to remove art.
-
Creative Arts Society receives a 15% commission on all art sales made at our venues. The commission is to be paid within 15 days from the date of the sale. It is calculated based on the price of the artwork before sales tax and any credit card fees.
Commission payments can be made online via credit card or by mailing a check. (click for payment page) -
Artists are required to have a sales tax permit in accordance with Texas law. Here is a link for more information: https://comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/sales/
-
Exhibits and special events are intended to be family-friendly and CAS reserves the right to exclude works deemed offensive, violent, include excessive nudity or is otherwise unacceptable to the venue at its sole discretion. Artwork must be appropriate for the public.
-
All artwork must be ready for hanging.
All 2D artwork should be wired appropriately for hanging. Wire should be installed so that the hanger will not show above the artwork once hung.
NO Saw Tooth hooks allowed. -
Frames must be in good condition.
Frames are defined as a rigid structure intended to protect and/or support the artwork. The frame material must be sturdy wood, metal or plastic (>1/2" thickness is recommended for a higher end look). Art on canvas, paper or other flexible substrate must be stretched over a frame or mounted within a frame. (Note: When selecting a substrate, please consider a material that will provide lasting value to the customer, ex. acid-free paper, resin coating, etc.). Fiber art is exempt from the frame requirement, provided that the art can tolerate crushing and bending and does not require the protection of a frame. Other exceptions are allowed if pre-approved by the venue coordinator and the item is not fragile. These rules are intended to protect your art and to ensure the professionalism of the exhibit.
-
Artwork must be in a finished and dry condition. Please, no wet paint.
-
Please label the back of your artwork with your name and the title.
-
CAS assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged goods.
-
Only art submitted via the call of art can be hung in the venue. No last-minute substitutes will be accepted.
