Artist Statement

My earliest artistic influence was before I ever started school, I was attracted to the vibrant artwork I would collect through my school supplies at 5 years old, and feeling a connection with the artist through the art. I became attached to unique art pieces at a very young age and it led me to my first experiences in watercolor, and I experienced what I would now call a "flow state", I kept that connection with me throughout life.

As a modern artist, I work mainly in abstract and acrylics, I have practiced various mediums and shared my art for over 10 years. I studied anthropology at Baylor University, before getting into real estate in 2020, which has expanded my perception of art in its connection to the community and the influence it has on culture. To me, art is in itself a discipline of meditation, the channeling of emotional vibrations through color, lines, and shapes. Abstract art encourages a very unbridled expression and evokes depth from the viewers, as though it were creating a new language between the artist and the viewer.

As a native Central Texan, I think you can see the accent in my use of bold colors and exaggerated lines. When communicating through my art, I use my expressions to provoke a sense of curiosity. I have a strong connection to nature and animals and love to talk about the cosmos.

About

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Members,

As we gear up for the busy year end crunch, I hope that everyone stays safe, healthy and that your holiday season is joyful.

It's been a busy year.  In addition to managing our rotating and curated exhibits, we had a beautiful exhibit at ArtUs Co and are gearing up for our final two special events of the year, the Downtown Pop-Up Art Market and Riverbend Church Inspiration Gallery.  The Riverbend Call is open until 10/18.

Additionally, we have been working very hard behind the scenes to improve our processes and reduce our volunteers' workload.  We are now able to automatically provide a record of the pieces submitted when artists apply for an exhibit.  We implemented a CAS Google Workspace to organize our data, transitioned to a new forms tool, automated several of our reports and streamlined our image management.  We have updated our Constitution/By-laws and will be sending this out for approval by the membership shortly.  Last but not least, we have migrated our website to a new webhost this month, to improve costs and security.  We'll continue to work to improve our processes and our value add to our membership.  Feel free to give us feedback on what improvements would be helpful to you.

Our last members meeting of the year will be Sunday, 11/3 from 1:30-3:30 pm at the Westbank Library.  This will be a Social get-together to celebrate CAS' 25th Anniversary.  Everyone is invited to bring a snack or dessert to share with the group such as cookies, brownies (nothing that requires spooning or dipping per the library rules).  Feel free to bring a "Show and Tell" piece of art to share with the group.  Please come to make new friends, catch up with old friends, relax and have fun with our wonderful community of artists.

Hope to see you there!
